Best single-player RPGs on PC you'll gladly spend 100 hours in

Dive into fantastic worlds and loose the track of time with the best role-playing games on PC.

Even when one gets the opportunity to try out this game genre, the large choice can overwhelm. It’ll be a shame splurging your time and money on a mediocre RPG just to realise that you did not enjoy this journey that much.

It’s important to settle for nothing less than a top-notch game. That’s why we’ve gathered 10 best RPGs you’ll gladly spend 100 hours on. What’s even better, you can compare prices of each of the listed titles on GG.deals.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey, like its predecessor AC Origins, is an extensive action RPG that guarantees many hours of gameplay.

The humongous open world overwhelms with the number of markers to discover and pleasantly surprises with its thought-through structure. This makes the exploration in the game spectacular.  It is also worth mentioning the built-in AC Odyssey Story Creator Mode that allows you to design your own missions. Quests made by other players can be found on this page.Assassin's Creed Odyssey is an excellent role-playing game with universal appeal.

Divinity: Original Sin I and II

Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition Release date: 27 October, 2017
Divinity: Original Sin II - Definitive Edition Release date: 14 September, 2017
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch (only Divinity: Original Sin II)

Both of Divinity: Original Sin games are considered to be classic RPGs, which contain all of the signature features that fans of the genre cherish the most. Here you’ll find an isometric view, large areas to explore and thrilling turn-based skirmishes.

What is also valuable for a good RPG? A great plot, which is developed through well-written, preferably voiced dialogues. Divinity: Original Sin I and Divinity: Original Sin II have the whole package. But bear in mind that these two games are not for a casual player, unless they’re prepared to read tons of guides.

Dragon Age: Origins

Release date: 3 November, 2009
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

Dragon Age: Origins is a title that started a series of dark fantasy RPGs, consisting of three parts. And, according to many players, BioWare did the best job developing the first game. Don’t let the release date trick you - this classic still has the potential of glueing you to the monitor.

The key element of the gameplay are the choices that have a huge impact on the fate of the main character. The decisions made by the protagonists also affect the game world itself. Dragon Age: Origins is a great gift for a player who enjoys long games. The main storyline will provide up to 40 hours of great fun, and there are also side quests and add-ons.

Fallout: New Vegas

Release date: 19 October, 2010
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

Obsidian Entertainment is a company that specializes in creating RPG games. They developed such titles as Neverwinter Nights 2, or even Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. However, the fans have a special place in their hearts for Fallout: New Vegas, even though it is only a spin-off to the Fallout series.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, New Vegas can still boast about unfading popularity to this day, as evidenced by the numerous mods created by initiative fans of the series. Interesting characters, hilarious dialogue and a bunch of entertaining quests are able to charm even the most demanding RPG gamers.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Release date: 13 February, 2018
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

Warhorse Studios, a game developer from Czech Republic, put their money on realism when developing this action RPG. Kingdom Come: Deliverance takes its players back in time,to the period of The Hussite Wars that swept through Central Europe at the beginning of the 15th century. The creators tried to accurately reproduce the rules of melee weapons combat to the best of their ability, so don’t count on spectacular fantasy-like clashes.

However, it’s most certainly not a disadvantage. Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a game for RPG fans that really appreciate the high level of gameplay complexity, top-class production and realism of the setting. You won’t find dragons, elves or magic rings here, so it’s a great option to keep things down to earth.

Wasteland 3

Release date: 28 August, 2020
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

One of the latest titles on our list, Wasteland 3 will suit those gamers that want to dive into a post-apocalyptic world. InXile Entertainment takes the player on a journey to ice-bound Colorado. Compared to its predecessors, Wasteland 3 is much more extensive, introduces a lot of new mechanics, while maintaining the classic basics, which pleased the fans.

The gameplay is based primarily on turn-based combat, which will please those who fall for classic RPG, and world exploration, which is filled with well-written characters and quirky NPCs. Wasteland 3 might be pricey at the moment, but your Xbox Game Pass for PC subscription may come in handy. 😉

Pillars of Eternity and Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire

Pillars of Eternity Release date: 26 March, 2015
Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Release date: 8 May, 2018
Platforms:  PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch (only POE)

Both Pillars of Eternity and Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire are classic isometric RPGs set in a fantasy world ruled by magic. The fact that they’re developed by Obsidian Entertainment, the company responsible for major titles like Tyranny, KOTOR 2, Neverwinter Nights 2, South Park Stick Of Truth grants the mark of quality.

The player takes control of a team of heroes, leading them through locations full of dangers and obstacles. Despite the fact that the main attraction here is the excellently written plot, the real-time fights are also rather entertaining. Of course, there’s an active pause option, don’t worry.

GreedFall

Release date: 10 September, 2019
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

This story-focused action RPG from the Spiders studio distinguishes itself with the original universe, which resembles 17th-century America. The player takes on the role of a young representative of the Merchant Congregation, whose task is to discover a cure for a disease that is decimating Europe.

However, this is not an easy task, as the indigenous people displaced by the colonizers are not happy with this state of affairs. GreedFall has a very interesting plot and a great world building, which gives AAA titles a run for their money. The combat system leaves much to be desired due to its over-simplicity, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s a good option for RPG fans who tried all the top notch titles.

The Outer Worlds

Release date: 25 October, 2019
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch

The Outer Worlds is another game from Obsidian Entertainment, which hit the list of the best RPG games for long, lonely evenings. The game set in a Fallout universe and might be a weaker title when compared to the legendary New Vegas. Nonetheless, The Outer Worlds is a fantastic (although, not error-free) production, the plot of which can engage you for hours.

The action takes place in a distant future on Terra 2, where your character wakes up from prolonged cryosleep after the colonist mission turns to disaster. You’ll have to uncover what went wrong, as well as visiting the space base and other planets. TOW offers a lot of freedom. You can choose from several solutions to the situations your character finds himself in, and the decisions you make have a significant impact on the game's world.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Release date: 19 May, 2015
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch

Fire burns, water flows and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt keeps being praised. Some things are constant. Based on the series of Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels and developed by CD Projekt RED, The Witcher 3 is considered to be the best action RPG according to critics and hundreds of thousands of pleased gamers. The multi-threaded, refined main storyline along with numerous side quests guarantee up to 100 hours of pure joy.

On top of all this, there are also two chunky add-ons that could well be separate titles, but instead prolong Geralt of Rivia’s adventures. The third part of The Witcher game series is still very popular to this day, partially due to outstanding price-quality ratio. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Game of the Year Edition, which includes the base game and all DLCs can be purchased for less than $10 when it goes on sale.
