How to play VR games on Steam?
First thing that you need is the SteamVR app. It is advisable to check whether your PC meets the requirements for the Valve Index Kit. Keep in mind that some of Virtual Reality games will need a strong computer to run smoothly.
Then, you have to connect any VR device that is compatible with the app. This means that aside Valve Index headset, you could also set up, say, Oculus Quest 2 and it would work just as fine. When your kit is connected, you’re all set. The app “transports” you to a special room, which will give you a nice preview of how Virtual Reality works and looks. Steam VR games can be bought the same way their “normal” counterparts are, the layout doesn’t really change. Aside from the fact that the platform can be explored in FPP, of course.
What is Valve Index?
Valve Index is the company’s own VR headset. It looks stylish, comes with neat controllers and, generally speaking, enhances the Virtual Reality experience. You can buy the complete Kit that includes everything you need to start off with the adventure. Its elements can also be purchased separately. Or could be, because some of them are already unavailable.
The library of Valve Index games is as overwhelming as the demand for the device. It’s essential to repeat that you don’t have to own Valve Index to have fun with titles on Steam, as Steam games with VR support can be run with other sets that are compatible.
What games are compatible with Valve Index?
The Valve Index games list is considerably wide. Provided you’ve bought the Valve’s device, you have a free Half-Life Alyx from the get-go. There’s probably no need to introduce the series itself. Only thing that you need to know is that the game has shown that the franchise can survive without Half-Life 3, at least for now. The essence of what made these games good is maintained in VR form. Carrying a weapon as if you’re the one physically holding it doesn’t seem like much. Same should be said about seeing Gravity Gloves in action. Somehow, in this title, this is more than enough to love it.
Now, we all know that exploring the world in a regular version of Microsoft Flight Simulator is enough to make an impact. Imagine that suddenly, you’re physically seated inside your plane. And you can visit anyplace you want, looking out of your cockpit. With the game’s attention to details, smooth control over your machine and the irresistible feeling that you know what you’re doing, seeing the world in FPP might be the cherry on top that we all needed.
This Steam VR games list is in no way everything that you can get with Valve Index. This is only the beginning of the bigger adventure. It’s highly recommendable to see what’s even beyond, as Virtual Reality surely hasn’t shown all of its faces yet.
