It’s no wonder players typically think of GTA anytime this publisher is mentioned. Nonetheless, the best Rockstar games include titles that are different both in gameplay and narration. A good example would be L.A. Noire, which is primarily a dark adventure game following the story of a detective in post-war Los Angeles. The gameplay mechanics are focused not only on spectacular action and gunfights but also on interrogations. The title still has surprisingly satisfying gameplay that introduced the bullet-time mechanic as one of the first video games. There are surely better-looking games by Rockstar you can find nowadays, although familiarising yourself with this classic would help you appreciate modern shooters.

On the other side of the spectrum, if you love westerns, you should also give Red Redemption 2 a go. It’s a real shame the first game in the series was never ported to personal computers, although we can’t really decide which installment is better. If you have already seen the story of John Marston (or you don’t mind playing the prequel without knowing what happens next), hop on your horse and see what tales await Arthur Morgan! The game is a perfect blend of exploration, phenomenal storytelling, and the quality you would expect from Rockstar games.
