The EMD GP20 marked a leap forward in turbocharged locomotives. While not a massive horsepower jump from its predecessor, the GP18, the GP20 offered operators reduced consist sizes, lower maintenance costs, and increased speeds. Recognize this workhorse by its distinctive features: the small radiator fan ahead of the large aft fan, the turbocharger bulge behind the cab, and the single, prominent exhaust stack.

Of the 260 GP20s built, Southern Pacific operated a significant fleet, including the original EMD demonstrators. This train simulation lets you experience the thrill of operating a piece of railroad history.
