Hardware Support

The HMD (Head Mounted Display) is not used in Audiate. Our focus is on optimizing performance within existing audio/video production workflows. Audiate is designed as an enhancement, minimizing its system requirements and working seamlessly alongside resource-intensive applications.

Pre-configured profiles are available for the following input devices:

• HTC Vive Controllers
• HTC Vive Trackers
• Oculus Rift

Support for additional OpenVR-compatible devices can be added through configuration file editing.

Tracked controllers provide the following inputs:

• 3 position analogue axes per controller
• 3 rotation analogue axes per controller

A Vive Controller also provides:

• 3 button-based analogue axes per controller (trigger & touchpad x/y)
• 1 digital axis (grip button)

Customize further by configuring any additional inputs provided by your OpenVR devices. Normalize and smooth values as needed. Advanced users can even create custom inputs via electrical hookups on compatible trackers.

The configuration system allows binding inputs to button presses, enabling customized control schemes. For instance, create X, Y, and Z axes that activate only when a button is held, maintaining the previous value until the button is pressed again.

Application Support

Audiate seamlessly integrates with any application or hardware that uses MIDI control codes, including VST-based instruments and effects modules. Connect hardware modules with MIDI capabilities as usual. Audiate can be configured to control even hard-coded mappings found in keyboard synths, without requiring module customization. Mapping files (midnam & csv) are supported, listing control names within Audiate for easy setup.

While absolute value output is typical, Audiate also supports relative input, commonly used by "infinite knob" control surfaces.
