The railway line between Zwolle and Groningen has a rich history, dating back to the State Railways Construction Act of 1860. It was a key part of the Netherlands’ first major state-owned railway routes, connecting major towns and cities. From its completion in 1870 to modern upgrades, including the 1970s electrification and station rebuilds, the line has evolved. The introduction of the NS Intercity Materieel, the famous Koploper, marked a significant era. As recently as November 2023, the line through Hoogeveen station was widened and realigned to accelerate intercity services. Experience all this history within the gameplay!
