Please do not purchase this game if you are expecting a finished AAA title. This project is a passion-driven, solo-developed indie skateboarding game currently in the pre-alpha stages of development. I am sharing this progression on Early Access for transparency and for those curious to follow the journey of an indie game developer. This is a workspace filled with work-in-progress mechanics, systems, and UI. If you are looking for a complete, polished product, this is not it. Your support helps me keep moving forward, but I want to ensure you know exactly what you are investing in.

This is NOT a sim-based skating game. If you are looking for an ultra-realistic analog stick physics simulator, this may not be the title for you. Cheapskate features fast-paced, arcade-style trick controls inspired by absolute classics of the genre, prioritizing snappy, skill-based input alongside realistic world dimensions and speed. What is Cheapskate?

Cheapskate is an ambitious third-person action sports sandbox. While the core focus is currently on authentic skateboarding mechanics, the roadmap includes expansion into other extreme sports like BMX, MTB, skiing, snowboarding, and even speedflying. Built with deep modding support in mind, the goal is to create a platform where the community can share levels, characters, and custom missions.

Core Gameplay Features

The game currently offers a robust technical foundation for players interested in extreme sports gaming:

• Versatile Controller System: Seamlessly transition between on-board skating and off-board traversal. Explore the world on foot with climbing and parkour mechanics, then hop on your board for smooth movement.
• Deep Trick System: Features a wide variety of flip tricks, grinds, slides, Natas spins, grab tricks, wallrides, and wallplants. Balance meters and intelligent trick detection provide a satisfying learning curve.
• Advanced Scoring: Experience complex combo tracking, trick detection with diminishing returns for repetition, and manual/grind balancing mechanics.
• Engaging Game Modes: Dive into our early Story Mode with mission objectives, or jump into Session Mode to tackle configurable challenges like high scores, high combos, and collectible scavenger hunts.
• Atmospheric Environments: Play across four distinct work-in-progress levels, featuring dynamic time-of-day and weather systems that change the look and feel of every spot.
• Multiplayer: Connect with friends via host codes for casual peer-to-peer skating sessions with real-time score updates.

Customization and Modding

One of the pillars of Cheapskate is player expression. Dive into the skateboard customization system to tweak every detail—from deck graphics and grip tape to the nitty-gritty of your trucks, risers, bearings, and wheel colors. Furthermore, the built-in modding pipeline allows the community to import geometry directly into the game. We provide the tools you need to create your own skate parks and dream spots.

A Note on Development

I am a solo creator putting my heart into this project every single day. Since Early Access began, I have pushed out over 50 updates, and the game evolves rapidly based on constant iteration. Most importantly, no generative AI was used to create this game. From the code to the art and music, everything is hand-crafted.
