Train Simulator: Experience the Golden Age of Steam with the GWR 56XX Loco Add-On!
Immerse yourself in the age of steam with the Train Simulator: GWR 56XX Loco Add-On. This meticulously crafted add-on delivers one of the most authentic steam driving experiences available, bringing the power and character of the Great Western Railway's iconic 56XX class tank locomotive to your virtual railway.
Originally designed for the demanding coal mining lines of South Wales, the 0-6-2 configuration of the 56XX steam locomotive was ideally suited for navigating tight curves. Following the 1922 railway grouping, the Great Western Railway inherited numerous smaller railways and sought to replace the ageing locomotives. The 5600 class was born, quickly proving itself a powerhouse capable of hauling impressive loads.
This powerful locomotive served faithfully from the 1920s through the Second World War and into the 1960s. The GWR 56XX became known for its reliability and versatility. Approximately 200 were built and nine survive today. The Train Simulator add-on captures the essence of this iconic machine, allowing you to experience history firsthand.
Developed by Peter Gillam, the 56XX Class for Train Simulator offers multiple control modes to suit all skill levels and a selection of authentic liveries, including Great Western Railway 'Shirt Button' and large logo variants, along with pre- and post-1956 BR liveries. Step into the detailed cab and experience the intricate controls and features that bring this classic locomotive to life. Manage cylinder cocks, brake vacuum, and steam pressure, and master the art of steam train operation!
Key features include cylinder cocks with prototypical operation and dynamic cylinder cock steam, ejector-operated brake vacuum creation with leakage management, feathered safety valves, dynamic smoke effects, notched reverser, operational reverser locking lever, steam leak effects when stationary, mason's and steam heating valve, custom head code lamps, operational water tank gauge, dual chime whistle, and operable cab elements.
