This locomotive is a true legend in the world of rail transport.

Step back in time to the Northeast Corridor's early days, where the E60 emerged as a successor to the venerable GG1. Ordered by Amtrak in 1973, these six-axle, 6,000-horsepower electric locomotives transformed passenger railway operations. Their origins as modified freight locomotives (originally built for coal hauling) give them a unique character and presence on the tracks.

The E60 wasn't without its challenges; its weight caused tracking issues, leading to its eventual replacement by the AEM-7. However, a significant number were rebuilt and continued service with Amtrak until 2002, while others found a new life with NJ TRANSIT on the North Jersey Coast Line until 1998.
