Created by High Iron Simulations, CSX Scenario Pack 03 features ten realistic career scenarios focused on heavy haul railroading. Take on the role of a CSX engineer and haul massive coal trains and manifest freight across the rugged Allegheny Mountains. Navigate twisting grades and challenging terrain, all while managing demanding schedules.
Set between 2014 and the present day, this pack puts you in the cab of four different locomotive types, including third-generation giants like the General Electric ES44DC and CSX's unique SD40-3 rebuilds. Master the art of train simulation as you conquer the route's unforgiving 2.2 percent gradients and handle extraordinary tonnage.
Haul 100+ car loaded unit coal trains with head-end and DPU locomotives (distributed power units), and utilize manned helpers to conquer the Alleghanies. Transport empty trains back to the mines, manage workhorse manifest freights, and complete local and switching duties. CSX Scenario Pack 03 delivers an authentic and immersive railroad simulation experience.
In CSX Scenario Pack 03, you will:
- Complete a challenging, four-part, end-to-end Grafton-to-Cumberland run, managing DPU locomotives and rear-end manned helpers along specific sections of the line.
- Take charge of CSX’s westbound workhorse manifest freight Q-317 in a two-part scenario, mastering the notorious 17-Mile Grade and Cranberry Grade.
- Operate the Mountain Subdivision’s westbound L-163 local freight aboard a CSX EMD GP40-2, performing switching duties at Keyser, West Virginia, and the paper plant at Luke, Maryland.
- Handle a heavy coal train exiting the ex-Western Maryland Thomas Subdivision en route to Newport News, Virginia, battling snowy conditions with a CSX General Electric C40-8W at the helm.
- Pilot a westbound empty hopper train carrying overflow manifest tonnage from Q-317, making a pickup at M&K Junction and climbing Cheat River Grade with three CSX SD40-3 rebuilds.
- Engineer loaded eastbound coal train U787 across Newburg and Cranberry Grades on a wintry day, sporting a power-pooled BNSF diesel, much to the delight of local railfans.
Based on real-world railroad operations and train symbols, the ten new career scenarios of CSX Scenario Pack 03 provide an immersive experience of heavy-haul railroading on one of America’s most historic, scenic, and challenging mountain railroads!
