This add-on brings classic 1950s and 1960s railroading to your Train Simulator experience. The New York Central Baldwin RF-16 is featured in both the railroad's stylish "lightning stripe" livery from the 1950s and the unique "cigar band" scheme utilized in the 1960s. Master the art of train driving and railway simulation with this meticulously crafted locomotive.
In 1950, Baldwin Locomotive Works unveiled their upgraded diesel line, including the 1,600-horsepower RF-16 "Sharknose" freight locomotive. A total of 160 RF-16s (cab and booster configurations) were purchased by three major Eastern railroads: Pennsylvania, Baltimore & Ohio and the New York Central. The New York Central acquired 26 Sharks (18 cabs, 8 boosters). While frequently utilized in heavy coal or ore services, the New York Central's RF-16s were also regulars on the "Big Four" lines in the upper Midwest. Following their retirement from the three Eastern roads, nine ex-NYC Sharks found a new life in 1967 hauling coal for the Monongahela Railway – you may already know them from Train Simulator’s Norfolk Southern Coal District route!.
