When Amtrak emerged as the United States' primary intercity passenger carrier in 1971, it inherited a diverse fleet of pre-owned locomotives. The EMD E8, along with the E9, quickly became essential. This DLC lets you command the stylish EMD diesels that became the workhorses of the early Amtrak era, experiencing authentic train simulation at its finest.

Produced from 1949 to 1954, the E8 boasted 2,250 horsepower generated by two EMD 567-series V-12 engines. This powerful machine gives you the capabilities required to master realistic train driving. Its A1A-A1A wheel arrangement allowed for speeds up to 117 miles per hour. The Amtrak E8 DLC brings this iconic locomotive to life in Train Simulator!

This add-on provides the Train Simulator Amtrak E8 in both cab and booster configurations, adorned in Amtrak’s distinctive red-nosed “Phase I” livery and the stylish striped “Phase II” scheme. Choose between single- and dual-headlight versions, and even operate "as built" and rebuilt variations to replicate realistic railway modelling.

But there's more than just locomotives! This pack includes authentic Amtrak passenger equipment designed to recreate U.S. passenger trains from the 1970s and early 1980s. The included equipment is an Amtrak baggage car, a 48-seat coach, a dome-coach, a 10-6 sleeper, and a diner, all in Amtrak’s Phase I passenger car livery. This DLC also features career scenarios in the Miami - West Palm Beach Route Add-On (available separately) and brings Train Simulator's Seaboard Coast Line General Electric U36B and era-authentic freight equipment to provide immersive freight traffic which maximizes your train simulation enjoyment.
