Originally designed for the newly electrified lines in Kent during a monumental electrification project, the 2-HAL fleet transformed the Chatham Main, North Kent and Medway Valley lines. Take the reigns as a virtual train driver on iconic routes!

These EMUs served commuters traveling between London Victoria and Charing Cross to Gillingham and Maidstone. Experience authentic train operation as you manage the BR Class 402 through meticulously recreated environments. Built at Eastleigh and Lancing Works, these 76 units boasted a similar specification to the older 2-BIL, but with construction differences created a unique aesthetic.

Imagine yourself managing suburban services out of London Victoria before finally arriving to work the services on the Chatham Main Line in July 1939. Formations of the 2-HAL sets, typically in 8 or 10-car formations, departing London Victoria to places like Swanley or Strood will put your train driving skills to the test.

Beyond commuter routes, the 2-HALs even served on long-distance weekend excursions from Gillingham to Portsmouth. While marked with a tough history throughout The Second World War, the 2-HAL’s would survive beyond the conflict & were re-classified as the BR Class 402. Now you can experience some final passenger work as Coastway route services out of Brighton.

While none survived into preservation, the 2-HAL opens a new chapter in Train Simulator! Experience decades of this Kentish classic that is now available to you.
