Built in the late 1980s to handle increasing traffic on the Bernina Railway, the ABe 4/4 III is perfectly suited for this demanding route. This line boasts some of the steepest gradients manageable by conventional railways and operates on a 1000V DC electrification system, crucial for reliable dynamic braking during descents. This specialized electrification makes the ABe 4/4 III and similar rolling stock exclusive to this spectacular line.

Unlike typical locomotives or multiple units in Train Simulator, the ABe 4/4 III uniquely combines the functionality of both. It can function independently, offering seating capacity for both 1st and 2nd class passengers. However, it's more commonly encountered in multiple unit formations, pulling rolling stock across the stunning Bernina Pass, including services like the world-famous Bernina Express. The RhB Enhancement Pack 03 includes all six ABe 4/4 III railcars (numbered 51 to 56) in the classic red RhB livery, each adorned with unique crests on their sides. Furthermore, two special promotional liveries are included: vehicle 51 showcasing the UNESCO World Heritage status of the Albula and Bernina lines, and vehicle 52 celebrating the Bernina Line's centenary.
