In the 1860s, the Central Pacific and Union Pacific raced to build the transcontinental railroad, driven by government incentives and the promise of connecting a nation. This railroad simulator add-on recreates the historic moment when those rails finally met.

Step back in time to April 1869, and join the Central Pacific and the Union Pacific railroads at Promontory Summit in Utah, where the "Golden Spike" ceremony united America's coasts. Witness the iconic meeting of Union Pacific 4-4-0 No. 119 and Central Pacific’s "Jupiter" locomotives, recreating a pivotal moment in railroad history.

Experience 19th Century Railroading

The Promontory Summit route in Train Simulator spans 68 miles, stretching from Corinne, Utah, across Promontory Summit, and along the scenic north shore of the Great Salt Lake to Kelton, Utah. This painstakingly detailed steam train simulator add-on recreates the challenging terrain and atmosphere of the 19th-century American West. Navigate rugged landscapes, steep grades, and impressive trestles, while experiencing the boomtowns that sprung up along the newly constructed line.

This route provides the perfect backdrop to operate period-authentic steam locomotives, including Central Pacific’s 4-4-0 "Jupiter," CP’s 4-6-0 "Buffalo," and Union Pacific’s 4-4-0 No. 119 locomotives (available separately from Smokebox). Transport passengers and freight across this historic landscape using meticulously recreated steam engine driving techniques from the era.
