This realistic train simulator add-on recreates the northern section of the Clinchfield Railroad (CRR) as it existed in the early 1980s. Navigate the challenging Appalachian terrain of eastern Kentucky and western Virginia and transport vital coal shipments. Experience the railway’s essential role as a bridge line, connecting the Chesapeake & Ohio with the Seaboard Coast Line.
The Train Simulator Clinchfield Railroad route spans approximately 41 miles from Elkhorn City, Kentucky (connection to the C&O) to St. Paul, Virginia (connection to the Norfolk & Western). Explore key locations along the route, including the Elkhorn City yard, the busy Dante, Virginia yard and engine terminal complex, the 5-mile Haysi branch, the expansive McClure mine complex, and numerous on-line mines. See the famous “Breaks of the Big Sandy,” the Pool Point Trestle, and tunnels, including the 7,800-foot-long Sandy Ridge tunnel.
As a train engineer, you'll take control of classic Clinchfield Electro-Motive diesels, battling steep grades (up to 1.5 percent) and heavy tonnage. Master the controls of the EMD GP7, EMD F7, the workhorse EMD SD40, and the flexible EMD GP38, all in authentic CRR liveries. Haul freight with 70- and 100-ton coal hoppers, a variety of freight cars, and a CRR-liveried caboose.
