Acquiring Crew Members

Expand your roster by acquiring crew members in two exciting ways:

Store Purchases: Visit the new "Crew" tab in the store to view and hire available personnel. While they are more expensive than items, they don't increase your deployment cost and provide a broader array of benefits. Choose wisely to maximize their impact on your space strategy.

Mission Rewards: Successfully complete simulator missions to earn a random crew member or officer, representing the hard-earned experience of your midshipmen. Furthermore, certain pivotal story missions will also reward you with valuable additions to your crew.

Utilizing Your Crew

Assign crew members to ships via the revamped Fleet Management screen. Fighter squadrons accommodate one crew member, escorts get two, standard capital ships boast three slots, and the mighty super-heavy capital ships offer four. Simply drag and drop crew members into the designated slots to unlock their potential! A handy display has been added to all ship focus panes, showcasing equipped crew and items for easy tracking of your strategic advantages in this sci-fi strategy game. You can even inspect enemy ships mid-battle using the magnifying glass to discover their equipment and crew compositions!

Training and Progression

Deploy your crew members in combat and witness their growth! Unlike equipment, seasoned officers gain experience at the conclusion of battles, mirroring the ships they command. This experience is persistent, staying with them even if they are reassigned. Level up your crew to significantly amplify the stat buffs they provide, making a level 25 crew member far more potent than a rookie. Get ready for tactical combat with a well-trained crew!

Balance Changes & Enhancements

"The Crew" DLC brings significant balance adjustments, shaped by community feedback and continued testing. The potent nature of crew members necessitated comprehensive rebalancing to maintain a challenging and engaging gameplay experience in this deep strategy RPG.

Key Balance Improvements:

• Hero Ships: Utilize starting hero ships in optional deployments, providing a powerful early-game advantage.
• Optional Deployments: Increased the number of optional deployments across all difficulty levels, affording players more flexibility.
• New Missions: Shorter, "easier" missions have been added in starting sectors to ease new players into the game's mechanics.
• The Vor Rebalance: The Vor faction received a comprehensive rebalance, making them cheaper to buy and deploy with increased hitpoints.
• Enemy Gear Implementation: Enemy ships now equip items and crew, diversifying their strengths and creating more varied encounters.

Additional Changes

• Increased the drop rate of Trade Goods as mission rewards.
• Increased the critical chance cap up to 75%.
