If we talk about the best recommended games for a VR headset on PC, we cannot start with anything other than Half-Life: Alyx. It’s a full-fledged, fascinating take on the franchise. It does everything in its might to utilise the possibilities of virtual reality. Don’t think that its gameplay is simplified to match the technology; on the contrary, it contains many innovative interactions and tricks that would be impossible without VR headsets.

The other one of our recommendations is BONEWORKS. Similar to Alyx, it makes good use of physics and is an adventure game. It takes place in a virtual complex that will make you think a lot and solve puzzles before you’re able to move around its locations. There will be some physical activities as well: shooting, boxing, and… parkour. For fans of more arcade-style VR titles, Beat Saber is an ideal choice. Even many years after its debut, it remains one of the most popular and best rhythm games available on PC. Thanks to its robust modding scene, you have an almost infinite number of new songs to play, ranging from niche artists to the biggest international hits. The game is also a great fitness helper, as its hectic and fast-paced gameplay demands a lot of stamina and sharp reflexes from players, which allows you to burn some calories in a more attractive way. 

Another great recommendation for PC VR headset users is The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR, a special version of the legendary open-world RPG that allows you to forge your own path as a fantasy hero. The game lets you fight, cast spells, and use items or special abilities with motion controllers, which further enhances immersion and enjoyment. Even if you have already completed the original Skyrim multiple times, you will likely find a new appreciation for it in this VR adaptation.

Do VR PC games have a future? Should we expect more great titles?

Virtual Reality certainly hasn’t shown everything it’s capable of yet, and we’re really excited to see its future. As for now, VR-required games on PC are already fun to play and aren’t only some silly, gimmicky titles with nothing noteworthy about them. As long as their developers are creative, they can constitute a whole different side of gaming, compared to the one we’re used to. Even if the VR boom is in the past, there are still many developers interested in virtual reality experiences, so in the near future, we should get a steady stream of high-quality and innovative games.
