Step into the cab of three of Great Western Railway’s (GWR) most hardworking tank engines with the Train Simulator: GWR 4200/5205/7200 2-8-0T Pack from Victory Works! This DLC brings the original 4200, improved 5205, and powerful 7200 classes to life, offering a highly detailed and authentic railway simulation experience.

The GWR 4200 Class, developed in 1910, was specifically designed to handle the challenging terrain of the South Wales coal valleys. These powerful steam locomotives were crucial for hauling heavy coal trains on steep gradients and sharp curves. Designed by Chief Engineer G.J. Churchward, taking elements from the tender-equipped 2800 Class, the 4200 Class was the UK’s first 2-8-0 tank engine. A total of 105 locomotives were built between 1910 and 1923.

Improvements to the 4200 Class design led to the 5205 Class in 1923, offering enhanced power and performance. This advancement resulted in 100 more of these locomotives being built up until 1940. These engines were mainstays hauling freight services across the South Wales network.

Finally, Charles Collett, Churchward’s successor, revised the tank engine design to create the 7200 Class. This variant featured an extended coal bunker and water tanks, supported by an additional set of wheels, making it ideal for longer distances across the GWR network. These impressive locomotives proved essential for the GWR.

These locomotives remained in service well into the British Railways era, hauling freight until the end of steam. Preserved examples of each class offer a glimpse into the past, making this pack a must-have for any Train Simulator enthusiast.
