Witness the fruits of Norfolk Southern's ambitious program, initiated in 2010 at their Juniata shops in Altoona, Pennsylvania. This program revitalized their fleet of SD60 diesel locomotives, dating back to the mid-1980s. This powerful machine features significant upgrades to control, braking, and safety systems, highlighted by the modernized Norfolk Southern-designed “Crescent Cab.” The 4,000-horsepower SD60E, powered by a 16-cylinder 710G3B engine and equipped with EM2000 microprocessors, is ready to haul everything from intermodal freight to heavy coal trains across your favorite Train Simulator routes. It presents a realistic and challenging train simulation experience.

By 2017, Norfolk Southern had rolled out over 130 SD60E locomotives from its Juniata shops, incorporating units from the original NS fleet and acquired second-hand engines (including ex-Union Pacific and ex-Chicago & North Western locomotives), showcasing the scale of this impressive rebuilding program.
