Imagine this: You're sitting on the toilet, lost in your own world, when BAM! You're abducted and beamed aboard an alien spaceship. In VR Flush, a hilarious and quirky free VR experience, you must convince an A.I. that you truly are an intelligent lifeform using… well, whatever you can find. Prepare for a bizarre VR adventure game unlike any other!

Originally a student project at the University of Applied Sciences in Darmstadt, Germany, VR Flush is now fully updated and ready for your enjoyment. This updated version supports both Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, and can even be played without a VR headset (though the experience is much better in VR!). Explore the spaceship and interact with your environment, using either motion controllers or traditional mouse/keyboard input, to solve puzzles and prove your sentience.

VR Flush was presented ad several German exibitions. For these, we actually made visitors sit down on a real toilet. For some reason, almost nobody wanted to fold up the toilet lid before sitting down...

These controls are not explained inside the game:

• ALT + ENTER - Fullscreen
• F - Show FPS
• ENTER - Recenter View
• SPACE - Toggle between mirror modes (Oculus Rift only)

• LEFT/RIGHT - Rotate grabbed objects (Desktop mode only)

Update Notes: VR Flush Patch 1.3 (2018)

Engine:

• Engine upgrade from UE4.9 to UE4.15
• VR Performance optimized

Controls:

• Oculus Rift Consumer Version (CV1) and HTC Vive are now supported
• Game can now also be played using the Rift or Vive motion controllers
• Grabbed objects can now also be rotated (Use LEFT/RIGHT on keyboard with mouse input)
• The entire Game can still be played without an HMD (Though its much more fun in VR)

UI:

• Crosshair is now a 3D object and optimized for VR (Mesh is always rendered in foreground)
• Crosshair now sticks to objects targeted by the player and lights up when an interactive object is focused

Sound:

• Added several sound effects for intro level, player character, and the Loot Toilet [TM]

Intro Level:

• Optimal render resolution is calculated at the start of the game.
• Players without an HMD wait 30 seconds for the test to skip automatically.
• Deleted Intro level, moved content to main level to eliminate loading time.
• The now integrated intro level explains:
  • How to play the game (Sitting on a chair)
  • Recentering HMD - Controller selection (Mouse, Vive Controller, Rift Controller)
  • Controls for each input device
  • Introduction to your toilet ;)
  • Starting the game (by flushing the toilet)
• The Intro level is now narrated by a text plane, telling a short story through incoming text messages.

Toilet:

• "Flo" now waits 30 seconds before knocking and complaining.
• Physics objects no longer fall through walls or the floor.
• Toilet paper outside of basket removed.
• Remaining toilet paper rolls are covered by a magazine.
• The teleported toilet paper roll is now green.
• New teleport effect for green toilet paper (dissolves)
• Lighting adjustments.
• Decal reordering and additions.
• Toilet moved backwards.
• New feature: The Loot Toilet [TM]
  • The Loot Toilet [TM] is an animated decal on the wall.
  • Plays a short animation when looked at.
  • Plays animations and spawns loot when interacted with.
  • Loot changes surroundings or spawns new items.

Spaceship:

• The green toilet paper hovers in front of the player and flies towards the examination platform.
• The robot starts to the player's right and moves to the examination platform, examining the toilet paper. Timing and animation adjusted.

• The player starts closer to the examination platform. Smoother player transport with reduced motion sickness.

• Improved transition between toilet paper and ashpile.
• All spaceship screens show a human when the player is on the examination platform.
• Laser impact improved (Space shuttle).

Credits:

• 2D Credits deleted as they didn't work in VR.
• Dimmed toilet room environment before credits, except for the robot.
• Credits emerge from the toilet floor and roll upwards.
• New, more detailed credits, including voice actors and additional artwork.

Bug fixes:

• Objects can now be targeted and picked up precisely in VR.

• The game no longer automatically recenters the HMD after teleporting the player.

• Numerous smaller bug fixes and adjustments.
