Skills: Modify, Evolve, Dominate

Each skill in Moderium consists of a Base Skill, 5 Modifiers, and 3 Stages. This intricate system allows for a truly diverse combat approach. Leveling grants skill points, which are used to unlock and modify skill effects. As 5 points are allocated to a skill, the Second Stage is unlocked, adding a passive benefit. After 10 points, the Third Stage unlocks even more possibilities. Imagine customizing Fireball to either ignite enemies for damage over time or to regenerate mana on impact. A third option involves a Fireball that pierces, regenerates mana, applies ignite, and even creates additional Fireballs.

Beyond individual skill customization, certain skills within the same tree interact, creating powerful synergies. For example, the Fire Skill Tree's "Embers" skill increases fire damage taken by afflicted enemies, while the "Firestorm" modifier grants a chance to cast a free Fireball Fracture on each target hit.

Items: Loot, Craft, Conquer

Moderium features a rarity-based loot system with a unique twist. Most items grant "Damage" to enhance offensive capabilities. Rarer items offer additional benefits:

Epics: Grant Damage, 1 Primary Stat (Strength, Intelligence, or Agility), and 3 Secondary Stats (Critical Hit Chance, Haste, Overflow).

Relics (Legendaries): Grant Damage, 1 Primary Stat, 2 Secondary Stats, and free points to at least 2 Modifiers (up to 5 points on all 5 Modifiers) for a specified skill.

Combine these with new Secondary Stats for added build variety and a crafting system that lets you meticulously define your items' Primary and Secondary Stats, as well as their level, you can see the depth of character customization. Moreover, equipment sets enhance characters, focusing on adding gameplay and customization instead of providing simple numerical buffs. Sets are broken into individual bonuses, requiring a specific number of pieces to unlock. A default of 3 sets can be active at a time, further enriching character customization.

Imagine a Pyromancer activating Flaring Repetition (Conflagrate's Damage Over Time now stacks), Flamecaller's Gift (Fireball redirects back at the player), and Ignition (passively applies "Ignite" to a nearby enemy every few seconds). Moderium empowers you to mix and match sets to amplify your character's power. Sets don't replace default equipment, so they won't interfere with Epics or Relics.

Scaling: Accessible, Engaging, Rewarding

Moderium aims to be accessible and frustration-free. Therefore, it's impossible to be instantly defeated by a single enemy hit. As you progress from level 1 to 100, enemy damage scales and eventually caps. At level 100, both a level 5 enemy and a level 50,000 enemy will hit with the same force – the difference lies in their health. Higher-level enemies have significantly more health, requiring precise skill point allocation. To scale alongside these challenges, Moderium introduces "Enhancement." Upon reaching level 100, you can "Enhance," destroying equipped and inventory items (Sets are carried over), returning to level 1, resetting skill points, and gaining 10 extra skill points. This process is repeatable.

Moderium shifts the focus away from avoiding instant death and emphasizes active, engaging gameplay. The goal is to maximize damage output to defeat higher-level enemies before being overwhelmed.
