What are the best BioWare PC games?

The history of this developer started at the end of the 90s with a mech simulator, something the studio probably isn’t associated with nowadays. Then, it only got more interesting. 

Some older players may also remember the Neverwinter Nights series and a phenomenal action RPG called Jade Empire. Both may not be as popular as other games in the studio’s portfolio, but checking them out is advisable to this day. They have not aged significantly in terms of gameplay, and their dated visuals have a certain charm. 

We can’t forget about the hit video game series developed by the studio, which is the Mass Effect series. As soon as it shifted its focus on an action RPG space opera with Mass Effect 2, the story of Commander Shepard became one of the finest in the BioWare games catalog. The Dragon Age series has also begun around that time, offering the players old-school, challenging gameplay mixed with numerous features that make contemporary RPGs so enjoyable. 

Dragon Age II had a much more arcade approach to gameplay than the first game in the series, and Dragon Age: Inquisition was a visible step-up in some aspects, while it lacked a coherent quest system and felt a bit like an MMO because of it. Furthermore, Mass Effect: Andromeda suffered some criticism due to questionable character models, although it turned out to be more than just a decent experience. 

We should mention the Baldur’s Gate series, which now received the third installment, Baldur’s Gate 3. The title is still in Early Access, but it already looks more than just promising. Theoretically, including it in the list of BioWare games is a bit of a stretch because it’s developed by someone else. Nonetheless, Larian Studios is doing a great job with the franchise, and that’s reassuring.

Everyone is imperfect and makes mistakes; not all BioWare games are perfect. At the same time, only a few (if any) aren’t something we can recommend giving a go.

What games will be released by BioWare?

After releasing Anthem and giving us the enhanced versions of Shepard’s adventures with Mass Effect Legendary Edition, we already know that the studio is working on the next Dragon Age title, which will be called Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. The game will introduce a new antagonist, Solas. Maybe the developers believe changing the tone of the series is what it needs? The same could be the case with the possible fifth installment in the Mass Effect series. 

There’s also nothing stopping a refreshed classic from joining the ranks of games made by BioWare. We are not sure what the future will look like, but one thing is certain now: playing some of the already-existing PC titles developed by them is a must!
